Sea Pine Golf Course in Hua Hin

Sea Pine Golf Course

Seapines Hua Hin

Sea Pine Golf Course is Hua Hin’s newest golf course. In fact, it is so new that the club house has only just been completed. Located right on the beach in Khao Takieb, about 5 minutes’ drive south of Hua Hin – this golf course is probably closer to the beach than any other golf course in Thailand. There is only one way this golf course can be described: ultimate beachfront. It is an 18-hole par 72 course and is interestingly divided by a railway line that can take you from Bangkok to Phuket.

Sea Pine Golf Course has uninterrupted sea views for about 300 metres all the way along Suan Son beach and Khao Takieb beach. In fact, the views are absolutely fantastic. Pine trees are dotted along the edge of the beach and beyond them is nothing but beautiful sand, clean warm water and two islands sitting out in the Gulf of Thailand. The island to your left as you look out to sea is called Singtoh Island – otherwise known as Lion Island owing to the fact that it looks just like the shape of a lion with even the main of hair clearly visible. The island to your right as you look out to sea is called Turtle Island. Turtle Island even has a smaller island next to it that looks just like a baby turtle.

This golf course is all about location, location, location. From Hua Hin town centre, you can get here in less than 5 minutes’ drive by car. Or, you can even flag down one of Hua Hin’s government-run Green Buses for about 10 Thai Baht. The golf course also overlooks the stunning Monkey Mountain in Khao Takieb. Khao Takieb means Chopstick Mountain in Thai and is quite literally overrun with friendly monkeys that are always hungry for you to feed them.

Sea Pine Golf Course is a beautiful, undulating course that creates a good challenge for beginners and experienced golfers alike. The course is not really elevated but with the lakes situated on the course, you need to be careful with your drivers or you will end up losing your balls. Also, if you are halfway through your game and the wind picks up, you will need to be extra careful with the loftier clubs. There is equipment here for rent such as golf clubs, golf bags, shoes and umbrellas if you need them. There is also a basic pro shop, which sells things like clothes and golf balls.

The signature hole on this course is undoubtedly the 17th Hole. For a low score on this hole you will need to eat some strength-giving spinach beforehand and strike the ball as well as you can to make sure that your ball does not think it is a submarine so it flies across the water in order to hit dry land.

The club house is brand new. The locker rooms are very spacious and bright while the showers are quite basic but more than adequate for what is needed. You can sit in the brand new cool, air-conditioned restaurant and enjoy fine freshly cooked Thai and Western food while enjoying the spectacular sea and golf course views. If the weather is not too hot and you got back to club house early enough, you can even sit outside on the large balcony, enjoy the views, eat your food, sip your drink and simply chill out while the sea breezes roll in from the sea and cool you down after your ‘hard morning’s work’ on the golf course!
