Hua Hin Travel Agencies
Most visitors and residents in Hua Hin will at one time or another require the services of a travel agency or Tourist Information office, especially if they are new to the area and want to discover more about the local attractions or take a trip elsewhere. There are many knowledgeable and experienced travel agencies in town that can assist in organizing transport, accommodation, sightseeing tours and other activities. Most travel companies try to provide a very comprehensive range of services and can sort out almost everything that might be needed. Remember too that when booking several items together it might be possible to obtain a considerable discount, especially in the low season.
There is such a wealth of things to see and do around Hua Hin that joining an organized tour can sometimes be the most hassle-free and enjoyable option, as everything is usually included in the cost, such as hotel pickup and transport, accommodation, national park fees, and an experienced guide. But it’s up to the individual’s choice how much they wish to do independently. Many visitors would rather plan their own itineraries and schedule, and it can be considerably cheaper to rent a car or motorbike and make your own way to the various attractions. Doing it on your own however might be a challenge for those with limited experience of driving in Thailand, or when there are time constraints. All the travel agencies in Hua Hin can organize tours in the local area and beyond.
Popular excursions include a day trip to the Pala-U waterfall, trips around Hua Hin town and Cha Am, elephant trekking, the floating markets, boat trips, fishing, and the impressive Kaeng Krachan and Sam Roi Yod national parks. There is many more one or two-day sightseeing tours that go further afield to destinations such as Kanchanaburi, Bangkok, Koh Talu and Ayutthaya. All the agencies will gladly provide advice, brochures, and book your tickets and excursions. Prices tend to be fairly consistent as the same companies tend to run the actual tours.
For transportation in Hua Hin and elsewhere, travel agencies will book bus tickets, taxis, flights, and combined tickets (bus, boat and train journeys in a single ticket). When planning to travel by bus check carefully how many seats it has, otherwise you might find yourself on a cramped bus with more seats and less space than expected. The best ones are undoubtedly the twenty-four seater “VIP” buses which are comfortable enough and have sufficient legroom. Prices are similar almost everywhere but you could save a hundred baht or more if you shop around. Note that most train tickets can only be obtained at the train station rather than through the travel companies.
Hua Hin also has several Tourist Information offices run by the local municipal administration. They are more geared up to provide advice and to point you in the right direction rather than making bookings, but they do know the town and environs well. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) also has a small branch in Hua Hin but it’s not easy to stumble upon just by chance (see the listings below for details). Whilst walking around the town centre you’ll also come across dozens of small booths offering taxi services to practically anywhere in Thailand, as well as tours and car rental. Their prices are quite similar but try to bargain hard, as they inevitably try to charge above average rates.

TAT is the official government agency promoting tourism in Thailand, and there’s a local branch on Petchakasem Road just before the crossroads with Chomsin Road. It’s quite well hidden on the eastern side several meters before the traffic police box. The office is not very well known locally, perhaps because it’s not that close to any tourist hotspots. Tourist Centre (Hua Hin Municipality)

The other branch at the Damnoen Kasam Road crossroads is somewhat sleepier at certain times of the day.
Owners Tuk and Martin (a native Danish speaker) provide great tourist information and advice about Hua Hin as well as sightseeing tours, hotels, flights, bus and boat tickets. The available tours include day trips and longer excursions throughout Thailand and Asia.
